Books Butterfly Editorial Review of The Progenitor – Space Fantasy by Sara Wright
Introduction & Context
The Progenitor is a captivating space fantasy novel written by Sara Wright. The story follows Xendara, the protagonist and heir to the throne of Xardenora, as she discovers her hidden powers and faces enemies who seek to exploit her abilities
Main Review
Xendara finds herself thrust into a position of leadership after her father’s death, and she soon realizes that he had kept secrets from her. In order to protect herself and her people, she embarks on a journey to uncover these secrets before her enemies remove her from power
The adversaries, aware that Xendara is ‘the progenitor’, plan to harness her powers for their own gain. As her powers progress, Xendara experiences increasingly frequent visions, which she learns to control through meditation. This practice prepares her mind and helps her avoid receiving visions at inopportune times
The enemies in the story oppose mixed species bonding, as it accelerates the decay of ancient DNA, an integral part of their powers. Consequently, they disapprove of Xendara’s relationship with Darijus, her childhood best friend turned lover. Darijus, a telepath, must be cautious around their adversaries due to his bond with Xendara
Unprepared for their intrusion, he aids Xendara in discovering her powers and, in doing so, he realizes that his destiny is intertwined with hers. Xendara is faced with choices that not only impact her relationship with Darijus but also determine the fate of her people
What path will Xendara choose?

The author’s use of accessible language allows readers to easily comprehend the story and enhances their creativity and empathy
Weaknesses
One potential weakness of the book is the level of effort required to read. It might benefit from further refinement to improve the flow and readability. That would make for a smoother reading experience
Conclusion
The Progenitor is an enchanting tale that combines science, technology, and the wonders of nature. It interweaves a delightful romance between best friends, reminding readers of the consequences that choices in life can have – both positive and negative
The story emphasizes the need for careful navigation through numerous obstacles to achieve one’s goals, urging readers to remain focused and vigilant

For YA readers – 90/100
For YA Fantasy readers – 100/100
For YA Science Fiction readers – 90/100
For YA Romance readers – 90/100. Please Note: This is a Space Fantasy with a Clean Romance. This is not an all out Romance
For Older Fantasy and Space Fantasy and Science Fiction readers – 80/100. While it is aimed squarely at YA readers, it is a good choice for any adult readers who like Avatar type stories that are a mix of technology and nature and space
Curator’s Thoughts on The Progenitor (A Space Fantasy) by Sara Wright
This is just a very well-constructed book and an intelligent and absorbing read
It takes a lot of effort to mix genres and get it right. It’s very ambitious of the author to attempt to combine a Space Opera with Fantasy and then add in a Clean Romance
Somehow Sara Wright has pulled it off and created a book that our reviewer gave a very high 90 out of 100. Reviewers at Amazon and Good Reads also love it
Hats off to Ms. Wright for achieving the near impossible and mixing all these genres into a very readable and very pleasurable book
