Sexual Awakening by Melina Druga is a very well written steamy romance novel which is so well written it could double up as a Women’s Fiction/Coming of Age Literary Fiction novel. This is rare for Steamy Romance novels and commendable. The writing is a real pleasure.
There is a lot of conflict/tension in America around what the right level of openness to sexuality there should be among young adult and new adult readers. This creates a unique situation where a lot of the readers who would benefit from this book would be told it is ‘too sexually explicit’ for them.
This would cause some readers to miss out on a gem of a book for new adult readers who are coming of age and understanding and exploring their sexuality.

This book will help you identify and understand when God is talking to you, and how to interpret what He is saying to you.

The author is convinced that you haven’t lived until you’ve heard from God and that it’s one thing to know the theology of the voice and another to experience God’s voice first-hand.

The author uses real life experiences citing instances in his life when God spoke to him and supports that with evidence from the relevant Bible verses.
The book carefully breaks down the various important parts relating to hearing what God is saying – thereby, making it easy for the reader to understand. It strongly advises the reader to make time for God through prayer, Bible study and worship in order to create an optimal environment to listen and understand Him.
The author, Gabe Liliedahl, meticulously lays down the process of listening to God. He first makes it clear that God still speaks to us presently as He used to in the past. Following a neat order, he then guides the reader smoothly from identifying how God speaks to us detailing how to process and interpret the Spirit’s Voice, then ends the book by offering advice on how to mature your hearing and life applications.

The book is written in simple and easy to understand yet captivating language. This makes it easy for the reader to clearly get the message being passed and keep yearning for more.
The author has clearly demarcated the various chapters in the book in a chronological manner – Creating a smooth flow of ideas that are well integrated and which build on top of each other seamlessly.

10-1 shows a very high level of literary ability. It is very tough to integrate steamy romance into a political setting. The author does this superbly well
At the same time, the book takes on two very big challenges
- Conservative vs Liberal/Progressive Romance. Unfortunately, this will throw off some readers
- Marriage Troubles. This will scare off a significant number of readers as most romance readers do not want to read about marriage troubles (you could argue that they are reading Romance precisely because they are sick of the harsh reality of marriage being imperfect)
We applaud the author for writing such an intricately layered and challenging book. It is quite remarkable that the author managed to pull it off. At the same time, it is a very tough direction for a new author to take.
Any new author building a readership should think twice before going into either politics or marriage problems. Focusing on either makes their author journey much tougher. To write a book with both politics and a troubled marriage is insanely brave
We think the author has a lot of promise and definitely has a promising future. Romance and Steamy Romance have lots of well defined sub categories and ‘unwritten rules’ to follow. Hopefully the author explores some of those ‘tested’ and ‘safe’ areas in their future books. That would allow their immense writing talent to shine brighter
